Description: Reviewing (debriefing) is also an
opportunity for new and significant experiences. Reviewing can
take learners back into the experience of the activity while
reinforcing learning and bringing out new learning. An effective
review can also respond to participants' developmental needs,
such as the needs for belonging, recognition, respect,
responsibility, creativity, challenge, power and fun.

Description: This course has been designed for
inspectors of personal fall protection equipment, buoyancy aids and
water helmets used in the adventure activity workplace, including
climbing, mountaineering, caving, gorge scrambling and coasteering
equipment. The course covers current legislation, management systems,
equipment selection, equipment inspection, storage, repair, disposal
and written examination reports. It is aimed at providing you with
information and techniques to enable you to:
- undertake pre-use checks, interim inspections and thorough examinations
- identify damage and defects that would require the item being
taken out of service
- produce a management system and specify an examination scheme
- produce written examination reports and specify any actions required
Also included is the opportunity to view and analyse destructive
tests on damaged items of PPE

Description: The aim of this 2 day event is the certification
of instructors for Traditional High Ropes Courses who
have already been trained according to ERCA standards or a
comparable training course meeting the criteria and job
descriptions of Traditional High Ropes Course
Instructor described in the ERCA Training Syllabus 2009.
Day 1:
- The ERCA training system
- Overview and up-to-date look at the ERCA standards for
permanent ropes courses
- Instruction and Supervision
- Rope Acces and working at height
- Rescue
Day 2:
- Rescue methods (Examples)
- Written Exam
- Practical Assessment (rescue)
Requirements: Qualification
for Traditional High Ropes Course Instructor (see ERCA
Training Syllabus 2009) or Traditional High Ropes Course
Instructor conforming to ERCA training standard (you will
be asked to provide information and evidence regarding your
training and this will be evaluated to ensure it conforms to
ERCA training standard). Practical experience, good
knowledge of knots, ropework, climbing and abseiling with
ease, in good health. Course participants must
register by 2010/11/14. Please send your training
paperwork or certificate to the office. Before
the exam a rescue method will be trained and later
on assessed. Further information will be given in
the workshop documents.
