  • Description

We are delighted to announce a series of linocut workshops led by Marta Wakula-Mac, an experienced artist in the field. If you would like to learn the printmaking skills, variety of lines, different textures, negative and positive images, how to apply ink and much more, do NOT miss this workshop!

The Linocut workshop will be run once a month on a Saturday or Sunday, each session will be approached as self-contained and separate units.

The following workshops will take place:

    • Saturday 18 September

This beginner’s workshop introduces newcomers to making a linocut print. Participants will be introduced to basic printmaking practice and will develop these skills over the duration of the course. After drawing their designs onto paper and transferring it onto a block size approx 10x10cm, they will work on it using special curving tools.

During the workshop participants will focus on variety of line, different texture, negative and positive image. They will be introduced to a method of how to apply ink on to a plate and two different methods of printing: by hand and on the printing press. There will be a possibility for everyone to use a professional printing press and make a few proofs.

The workshop is aimed at all interest in printmaking – the beginner and those who have some printmaking experience.

As students will be working from their own ideas, it is important to bring some drawings, photographs or other images as source material.

Participants will be provided with linocut tools, block of linoleum, paper and ink. Latex gloves and rags are also provided. Suitable clothing should be worn.

Please bring a notebook, pencils and your drawings or sketches.
